Compliant Occupational Health Surveillance Programmes

Mobilising and Ensuring That You Are Compliant

Businesses have a moral and legal obligation to ensure that their health surveillance programme is compliant and relevant for their workforce. At Fusion Occupational Health, we can determine the needs of employees and establish a comprehensive surveillance programme. This can measure the needs of a job role against the level of care provided.

Where relevant you should comply with relevant health and safety legislation, including:

  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
  • Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002
  • Specialist legislation relating to specific chemicals, substances or risks

As part of the mobilisation process we will carry out a desktop analysis of your health surveillance needs and help you to produce a robust health surveillance matrix. A needs analysis includes a review of any existing regime, your relevant policies and procedures and a review of your risk assessments. Following the outcomes and recommendations outlined in the needs-analysis, we will work with your Health & Safety and HR Teams to implement and maintain a planned health surveillance programme. Fusion will manage your recall requirements and provide data to show what you need to do to remain compliant.

  • Needs assessments are delivered regularly to assess business change and legal implications
  • Assessments required are in line with legal requirements and environment risks
  • Health Surveillance data is processed and managed through an electronic system to ensure data security and effective management of recalls
  • Health Surveillance data is regularly reviewed and proactive steps a taken where necessary to reduce risk

Service Delivery

Traditionally health surveillance has always been delivered on site. The 2020 Pandemic required us to provide Health Surveillance via telephone or video questionnaires and although this method cannot replace on site work entirely, it can form part of the solution and we have included it in our delivery method options detailed below:

Option 1 – Traditional Method

We can carry out face to face medicals and screen employees in line with the requirements of your Health Surveillance Matrix

  • On site clinics at your premises
  • 7 to 10 appointments per day depending on the extent and scope of the screenings

Option 2 – Flexible Blended Approach

We complete all the questionnaire elements of your Health Surveillance matrix via telephone or video link

  • We review the outcomes and create a list of employees who need to have a physical assessment
  • We can complete 14 to 20 telephone assessments per day
  • We attend site to carry out the required physical assessments

Carrying out remote clinics has several benefits, these include:

  • Reduced cost to you through higher utilisation
  • Lower fee rates will be charged
  • You will remain compliant with your statutory H&S requirements
  • Reduced environmental impact
