Health Surveillance for Manufacturers

Comprehensive health surveillance for manufacturers nationwide

Health surveillance is a legal requirement in manufacturing, where employees are regularly exposed to health hazards, such as noise, dust, chemicals, and strenuous physical activity. It establishes a policy of health monitoring based on a workplace risk assessment designed to detect, prevent, and reduce the impact of work-related ill health among employees. Following a needs analysis, the most appropriate testing process, contents, and schedule are identified.

Our Health Surveillance services are available nationwide — all areas of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The checks can be arranged in the way most convenient for you. Our technicians can come to your site, or if you don’t have a suitable space, you will benefit from one of our mobile units. In case you would prefer to do this off-site, we have a number of our own sites available, or we can arrange for a space in your vicinity.

Audiometry
Audiometry testing is necessary for those working in environments with exposure to excessive, prolonged noise. It tests how for any hearing loss, testing the intensity, tone of sounds, balance issues, and other problems related to the function of the inner ear.
Confined space medicals
A medical assessment is a necessary requirement for those working in confined spaces. This should happen during on-boarding, after every 2 years (unless otherwise medically necessary), and if and when there is a change in the employee's health.
HAVS
HAVS is vibration transmitted from work processes into workers' arms and hands, e.g., from powered hand tools. Its management is the employer's responsibility as it can lead to permanent health effects, but those are preventable if timely, appropriate action is taken.
Spirometry
Spirometry tests the lung function by measuring the in and out flow of air in the lungs to assess for any problems. It is a necessary assessment for those working in environments with regular exposure to dust, chemicals, or other respiratory hazards.
