Workplace Counselling Service
Our in-house integrative workplace counselling is available to individuals who have been recognised as possibly benefitting from counselling services. An initial consultation is offered so that the individual can decide whether they feel they can work together with the workplace counsellor, and for the counsellor to gain a basic understanding of their present issues.
The integrative approach to workplace counselling we offer includes a combination of a person-centred approach, transactional analysis and CBT. The core conditions of empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence all work to create a therapeutic relationship which will see the counsellor supporting the individual in understanding why they feel like they do and helping them to move on. Working from the individual’s perspective, a step-by-step approach is taken to support individuals referred to us.

Email counselling
Fusion are proud to announce a new addition to our workplace counselling services – email counselling.
What is email counselling?
Email counselling is exactly what it sounds like – the exchange of secure, confidential emails between an individual and a qualified counsellor with the goal of providing counselling to said individual. This is a type of online counselling that makes it even more accessible and has a wide range of proven benefits.
How does it work?
The emails are around 500 words long. They are exchanged weekly, with a certain day and time established for the individual and the counsellor that they agree to send their emails by. For example, it could be that the counsellor receives their emails by Tuesdays and replies by Thursdays.
There is no one topic discussed, and the length of the emails allows for the individual to express everything they feel like they need to. In addition, unlike traditional face-to-face counselling the feelings and emotions can be recorded while they are happening, thus providing the counsellor with more details and a better understanding.
After receiving the email, the counsellor takes 2 working days to reflect and process the information they received and then draft the reply.
Benefits
- No set time, so no need to take time off for sessions.
- A permanent record of the session available to the employee at all times – they can come back to the things that have been said and reference them again and again.
- Little risk of disruptions – even if there are other people around or the internet connection leaves much to be desired – the emails can still be sent and received.
- If the employee wishes to remain semi-anonymous, they have the opportunity to do that here. Except for the email address and some minor details their appearance, voice, and many other characteristics that usually are in the open will remain hidden. This is especially beneficial for those with social anxiety, those who don’t feel safe being seen while being vulnerable, and those who might be anxious to start counselling.
- Many people find it easier to express themselves or discuss sensitive topics in writing rather than out loud. This means the counselling is likely to be useful as any problems, no matter how hard to talk about, can be discussed a little easier.
What are the benefits of counselling in the workplace?
Workplace counselling is such offered by an employer to their employees to support them and provide them with a safe space to talk about any issues they’re having. This is not an alternative to therapy, but rather a short series of session designed to alleviate stress and help resolve an acute crisis, if any.
The immediate benefits of workplace counselling include:
- Ease of access to counselling
- A space to talk and share
- Encouraging the development of healthy coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills
How many sessions would one employee be entitled to?
This would depend on your company policy. Fusion is able to offer as many as you need/the company policy covers. A typical counselling treatment consists of six sessions.
Will the company get a report based on the outcome of the sessions?
No, counselling sessions are confidential.
