Our Occupational Health Triage Process

Our Occupational Health Triage Process

Our Occupational Health Triage Process

We can offer a wide range of occupational health and safety services designed to improve the health and wellbeing of our clients’ employees.

We’ve worked with businesses of all sizes in a variety of sectors, but the very start of the process will always be the same. Our occupational health triage process allows us to select the best service for a client. Once this has been established, we can give them the practical tools and support to create a safe and healthy workforce.

Here’s how it works:

Referral

A manager or HR professional will send us a referral request. Once the referral is received, they will receive an automatic email confirming receipt of the referral. Within 24 hours of us receiving the referral, it will be sent to our clinical governance team.

Clinical Governance Triage Process

This will ensure that the most appropriate appointment is scheduled for the health and wellbeing of a company’s employees. It could be a telephone consultation or a face-to-face meeting with an occupational health advisor or occupational health physician. The decision will be based on the option that improves efficiency, as well as saving time and money.

Type of Appointment

Depending on our recommendation, one of the following appointments will be arranged:

OHA Teleconsultation

The first referral will be straightforward, requiring minimal information from the referring manager. This could include;

  • Work or family issues affecting health
  • Musculoskeletal issues (not requiring a physical medical)
  • Non-complex health issues
  • Stress related issues
  • Reopening an unsuccessful return-to-work plan

The OHA telephone conversation will take place within 5 working days.

If physiotherapy or psychological support is required, a third-party referral will be forwarded to an appropriate partner.

OHA Face-to-Face Meeting

This will involve a workplace assessment, home office assessment and on-site clinic.

The OHA face-to-face appointment will take place within 10 working days.

If physiotherapy or psychological support is required, a third-party referral will be forwarded to an appropriate partner.

OHP Face-to-Face Meeting

This will cover;

  • Complex mental health issues
  • Previous referrals with unresolved issues
  • Physical examination
  • Termination on health grounds
  • Potential dismissal
  • Referrals with no resolution after 6 months
  • Health retirement
  • Speech/hearing difficulties
  • The need for a chaperone

In some cases, we may need to request a third party report from a GP or specialist prior to the OHP appointment. Once that report has been received, an appointment will be booked.

The OHP face-to-face appointment will take place within 10 working days.

The Outcome & Follow Up

One outcome of the consultation may be the recommendation of a follow-up from one of our strategic partners. This could be a physiotherapy or psychological support service. We will suggest the support that is most relevant and then arrange an appointment.

Solutions & Results

The support, help, and advice we provide will differ based on any number of circumstances. Our occupational health triage process ensures that we gain insight and business intelligence.

This consultative approach allows us to find the best solution for the issues our clients and their employees are facing. We can then deliver the best health & wellbeing advice.
